Nurse Assistant (CNA I)

Nurse Assistant I prepares students to provide personal care and perform basic nursing skills for patients of all ages. This course includes 50 hours of classroom instruction, 70 lab hours, and 40 hours of clinical experience. Upon successful completion, the student will be eligible to test for NC Certification through the instruction and testing service Credential.

You cannot enroll for this course online. A printable checklist of required documentation and cost. Contact a Success Navigator in order to register once all documentation is collected.

Registration Requirements

(Must have all documentation to register)

  • Must be 16 ½ years old
  • Signed Social Security Card, employment authorization document, or birth certificate (original, cannot be laminated)
  • Current CPR Card (valid for 2 years, must not expire before the class end date)
  • Current Driver’s License (Must be current non-expired), DMV identification card, military ID card, or passport
  • Proof of one of the following:
    • High School diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma (HiSET or GED)
    • Current enrollment in High School Equivlancey program
    • Current high school students, with minimum of 2.8 GPA
    • Current college enrollment
    • Associates degree or higher
  • Vaccination Records of the following are required for clinical entry.
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella
    • Varicella (Chicken Pox) If you have had the Chicken Pox, a blood titer test must be completed to prove immunity
    • Hepatitis B (Can be declined)
    • Tetanus (Last 10 years)
    • Tuberculin Skin Test (Two step test is required for classes in Anson County; 2 negative readings, TB skin test valid for 1 year) or QuantiFERON Gold blood test.
    • Flu Shot (required for classes fall classes, students will be required to get Flu shot before starting clinical rotation)
    • COVID vaccine (optional)
  • Instructions will be provided by the College regarding:
    • Drug Screening
    • Background Check

You will receive hardcover books from the Bookstore/Library and sign out these book on the first day of class.
